Belmont University, Motion Pictures Major

Cole Marvin is a freshman at Belmont University’s Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business majoring in Motion Pictures with an emphasis in Directing and Cinematography. His hands on film experience began his junior year of high school, but his love for film started long before that. Cole enjoys globalized filmmaking and has a deep fascination in Asian Cinema. He aspires to continue his film journey throughout the States and eventually overseas to understand other countries’ cultures and film. The art of film is an exciting medium for Cole and he finds that Film is the ultimate form of art, embodying the visual aspect of emotion and creativity. Some of his favorite films include Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, Wong Kar-Wai’s In the Mood for Love, Richard Lester’s A Hard Day’s Night and Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless. Cole won the Golden Lion for Best Narrative and Best in Show in 2017 for his short film, Torn.
