Instructor, Xavier University and University of Indianapolis

John Johnson currently teaches in the Philosophy and Religion Department at the University of Indianapolis as well as in the Theology Department of Xavier University. One of his courses at Xavier is Bible and Film. A large part of his research has focused on the reception history of the Bible. His course on Bible and Film focuses on both the use of the Bible (and religion more broadly) in film, but also techniques of storytelling used in film (e.g., lighting or camera angle). The course brings together ideas from biblical studies/theology and concepts from film studies in order to understand various aspects of the use of the Bible through the medium.
